Newsletter n°5 (07/2024):
2024 marks the 35th anniversary of the WTC , which we look forward to celebrating with you on December 5!
To celebrate its 35th anniversary on December 5, the WTC Metz-Saarbrücken will be hosting a festive evening in the salons of Metz's Hôtel de Ville . It's a way of recalling the history of the WTC Metz-Saarbrücken, created in 1989 by the shared determination of Jean-Marie Rausch, former Mayor of Metz, and the City of Saarbrücken to create a cross-border economic policy instrument. On the occasion of this anniversary, representatives of the 2 historic partner cities, Metz and Saarbrücken, will present the advantages of having an effective and adapted tool at the service of local companies and their territories.
The evening will also bring together WTC members, supporters and public and private operational partners (such as Inspire Metz, Metz Eurometropole, Région Grand Est, KPMG, CCFA, IHK Saarland, etc.), entrepreneurs, decision-makers, teachers-researchers, students, trainees and other international experts such as the Conseillers du Commerce Extérieur de la France.
We'd be delighted to welcome you to this evening's event. Your presence will symbolize our commitment to strengthening ties between Metz, Saarbrücken, our cross-border region and the rest of the world. We look forward to seeing you there! Mark your calendars now! Registration link coming soon.

Henry's Eis Manufaktur : Ein Eis geht immer!
[In French: Une glace, et tout va bien!]
The slogan of Henry's Eismanufaktur speaks for itself. With its artisanal ice creams free from colorants, artificial flavors and preservatives, the Saarbrücken-based company founded in 2014 has made a name for itself far beyond the region's borders. Henry's Eismanufaktur travels with its sales van to events, supplies selected restaurateurs in Saarland and France, and has had its own tasting store on Saarbrücken's beautiful St. Johanner Markt since April 2016.
Our ice creams are made from local, high-quality ingredients. Whether it's a vegan dark chocolate sorbet or a creamy vanilla milk ice cream, their appearance is transformed into an explosion of flavor on the palate.

A look back at WTCA's European meetings from June 10 to 12 at WTC Dresden
On the occasion of the meeting of European WTCsorganized by the World Trade Centers Association at WTC Dresden, WTC Metz-Saarbrücken took part in promoting the activities of the WTCA network as well as its own.
The 1st day, entitled Open Investor Day, featured a press conference to shed light on the activities of WTCA's international network.
To mark the occasion, WTC Metz-Saarbrücken broadcast interviews with François Grosdidier, Mayor of Metz and President of the Metz Eurometropole, and Uwe Conradt, Mayor of Saarbrücken (Oberbürgermeister der Stadt Saarbrücken), in their capacity as representatives of the two cities behind the creation of the WTC 35 years ago. Each of them reiterated their vision of the importance of having a cross-border WTC on their territory, and of the benefits enjoyed by member companies and local supporters. WTC Metz-Saarbrücken also presented, along with other European WTCs, the missions of WTCs, their role in stimulating business and promoting economic development.
On day 2, during a plenary session entitled from Germany to the world, WTC Metz-Saarbrücken offered delegates a quiz on the cultural specificities encountered in the German business environment, which they should be aware of before entering the German market. The quiz was developed by WTC member Petalouda Consulting, and adapted for the occasion.
During a round-table discussion, representatives of the IHK DRESDEN (Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Saxony), the HANDELSVERBAND SACHSEN (Saxony Traders' Association) and the AMT für WIRTSCHAFTSFÖRDERUNG DRESDEN (Economic Development Agency of the City of Dresden) explained the history and specific features of the economic development of the city and its region.the history and specific features of the economic development of the city and its region A strong industrial tradition, even before reunification. Then, after 1989, development supported by federal government subsidies, focused on cutting-edge industries and new technologies, leading to the emergence of a dense network of SMEs, mainly specializing in microelectronics and robotics. This has enabled the region to develop its attractiveness to foreign companies, such as the emblematic Taiwanese group TSMC, which has set up a gigafactory for microchips in Dresden.
We had the opportunity to visit the Silicon Saxony Day and realized the importance of the local ecosystem around the microelectronics and industry 4.0 sectors.
Our "TIP": Saxony is defined as a location for companies wishing to explore Eastern European markets, such as Poland and the Czech Republic, whose borders are close by. At the same time, there are few French-owned industrial companies in the region. Indeed, French-speaking entrepreneurs concentrate on western and southern Germany, with little knowledge of the strengths of the new Bundesländer.
