A look back at the 48th Cross-Border Business Lunch: strengthening Franco-German ties in Saarbrücken

On November 19, 2025, the three business clubs World Trade Center Metz-Saarbrücken, Club des Affaires Saar-Lorraine, and win organized the 48th cross-border Business Lunch at the Mercure Hotel in Saarbrücken.

This event illustrates the shared desire to give Franco-German economic relations a truly cross-border dimension, involving all sectors: the economy, trade, culture, tourism, associations, and citizens

A friendly, multilingual atmosphere

Nearly 40 participants shared a warm lunch around a roast goose, in an atmosphere conducive to conversation. Everyone spoke in the language they felt most comfortable with, promoting authentic communication and opportunities for new professional contacts.

An inspiring opening speech

We had the honor of welcoming Uwe Conradt, Mayor of Saarbrücken, who emphasized the strategic role ofthe Saarbrücken Eurometropolis in Franco-German cooperation. He pointed out that Saarbrücken is the only German city directly on the French border, a region rich in industrial history and Franco-German identity.

"If Saarbrücken were a French city, it would be the 12th largest city in the country," he explained, before highlighting the binational institutions that bring this cooperation to life.

This momentum also extends to the associative and cultural spheres, enhancing the region's appeal.

Real-life testimonials

Three presentations enriched the discussions: Frédéric Berner (CCFA), Axel Osché (WIN) and two students from the Franco-German Management Master's program (IAE Metz), who presented the Franco-German Days.

Anne Messmer also presented Box Destination Moselle, gift boxes offering unique stays, charming accommodation, and unexpected getaways in Moselle.

A meeting that confirms the importance of cross-border cooperation

This 48th Business Lunch demonstrates that Franco-German cooperation is not only economic: it is cultural, social, and civic.
These regular meetings, organized by the WTC Metz-Saarbrücken, help to forge lasting ties and promote the unique potential of our region.

The World Trade Center Metz-Saarbrücken aims to facilitate international and cross-border trade by offering companies a global network and opportunities for development.

Through its events, the WTC promotes networking among economic players, the promotion of regions, and the creation of Franco-German synergies, thereby contributing to the competitiveness and attractiveness of the Greater Region.
