The Inspire Metz agency, in partnership with BEHR Consulting, INSPIRE METZ and WTC Metz-Saarbrücken, is organizing the 5th edition of the Cross-Border Mobility Conference on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 10:00 to 12:00. For this new edition, experts from the Greater Cross-Border Region will discuss a round table on the theme of "Regards croisés sur les Zones à Faibles Emissions mobilité (ZFE-m), la nouvelle donne de la mobilité dans l'espace urbain".

By January 1, 2025, conurbations with more than 150,000 inhabitants will have to incorporate a ZFE-m on their territory, excluding the most polluting vehicles, according to the Climate and Resilience Law of August 24, 2021. The aim: to reduce pollution, mainly nitrogen dioxide and fine particles to prevent nearly 48,000 deaths a year in France.

This annual event on the environmental transition of territories and mobility will put into perspective the deployment of ZFE-m in the cross-border Grande Région, and the challenges it represents.

[BACK TO] The 5th edition of the cross-border conference on mobility: The ZFE -m in question

On June 20, Inspire Metz, in partnership with WTC Metz-Saarbrücken and BEHR Consulting - Germany - Benelux - France, organized the5th edition of the Cross-Border Mobility Conference at the Walking Ghosts Hall in Bliiida. A meeting of experts dedicated to the Greater Region, this year's discussions focused on the following themes

"Regards croisés sur les Zones à Faibles Émissions mobilité (ZFE-m), la nouvelle donne de la mobilité dans l'espace urbain". As Bruno Millienne, Member of Parliament for Yvelines (Flash ZFE-m Mission for the government), pointed out, for the public authorities, the ZFEs are a response to a public health issue that requires both collective awareness and a change in individual behavior. The issue is urgent because, given the timetable (January1, 2025), the aim is to accelerate the movement without being coercive. We need to involve the population in a scheme of general interest, without excluding those who are unable to acquire a cleaner vehicle. I also made it clear that the principle of reality prevailed, and that even before the ZFEs were restored, it was first necessary to agree on the harmonization of bans, while recalling that the ZFE-m were not operational, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. In the light of the expertise and experience of the other representatives of the Greater Region, everyone will have observed that, while the specific characteristics of a territory were significant in the implementation of such a scheme, these ultimately met with the support of the population, thanks to appropriate communication and a suitable timeframe.
